Chocolate Dipped Strawberries for Dummies!

My mom and I have always made chocolate covered strawberries ever since I was a little girl. In the beginning, we tried melting chocolate by a double boiler or by the microwave. Finally, we found the best and easiest way to make this delicious dessert!

1 pound of strawberries (the fresher the better)
1 1/2 cup of chocolate chips - I used a mix of dark and semi-sweet chocolate
2 tablespoons of heavy cream or half and half
1 tablespoon of butter

Wash strawberries and be sure to pat dry. (Optional: cut stem off if desired)
In a glass bowl put chocolate, heavy cream, and butter inside.
Microwave for 15 seconds and then stir. Microwave for 8-10 more seconds and stir again! Be careful to not burn the chocolate, time depends on the strength of the microwave. Keep careful watch!
Dip strawberries in chocolate (work in a timely manner before chocolate cools down). I find it easiest to use a toothpick or skewer to swirl the strawberries in the bowl. Lay on a wax paper lined cookie sheet and cool in the fridge for at least 25 minutes. Then enjoy and devour!

This is a perfect dessert to end any night or to bring to a party!

Simple Coral Lips Makeup Tutorial

I have recently discovered the beauty of lip balm gloss stains! They have been popular for some time now, and I just pulled this out after receiving it as part of a giftset from Clinique. This wearable coral color is so gorgeous and brightening.

I kept the eye makeup super simple because I wanted this look to be very easy and wearable. By filling in my eyebrows slightly, it helped balance out the coral lips and keeps me from looking washed out. Along with a peachy bronze blush color, it goes so well with the coral lips!

My lips are naturally a pretty dark color, so applying a creamy concealer on top helps the Clinique chubby stick show up much better. Always apply lip balm beforehand to help moisturize and blend the concealer into the lips; a little concealer goes a long way. On top, I applied a golden gloss to really warm up the entire look. The whole look is super simple and easy to do!

What's your favorite spring color?

My Favorite Spring Nail Polishes

Ahhh, tis the season to go running through fields of daises. As I write this, I look outside to the bleak Michigan weather with patches of snow everywhere...sigh. Pastels pastels pastels pastels..and more pastels are my favorite colors that remind me of sunny, warm weather!

(From left to right)

-Avon Nail Enamel Pro: Mystic (1 coat) $6 - I love this rose gold polish because it is so versatile! I can wear it by itself or on topof other polishes.

-OPI: Hawaiian Orchid (2 coats) $8.50 - This is my go-to poilsh to make me look more sophisticated, but it is still a nice pink shade.

-OPI: Do You Lilac It? (2 coats) $8.50 - Probably my all time favorite nail polish! I cannot get enough of it.

-OPI: What's With the Cattitude? (2 coats) $8.50 - (Cheaper Alternative: China Glaze Bahamian Escape) This was limited edition in the Shrek collection, and it is not too bright, but definitely not dull.

-China Glaze: Re-Fresh Mint (1 coat) $6 - (Cheaper Alternative: Revlon Minted) Who doesn't love mint green polishes?

I know that OPI and China Glaze can be super expensive, so I like to buy mine at asian beauty supply stores where the prices are essentially cut in half including limited edition polishes. Also, keep a lookout on Avon sales, because I know they have them all of the time, especially buy one get one 50% off.

Happy Spring!
