Vintage Flea Market Treasures

A couple of weeks ago (before it was below freezing temperatures), I saw a local flea market while I was driving be. This lovely market was held at a greenhouse that contained a little gift shop inside. I was only able to attend for 45 minutes, but I purchased a couple little things out of the dozens of booths- it was so hard to not buy more! Never underestimate what events your local area might have, as I was pleasantly surprised!

The little greenhouse where this was held was so adorable - I loved the colors of the walls! They also had a fairy garden set up with mini furniture. I wanted to live there...

Each booth was unique in their own way. From selling books, food, candles, shoes, and clothes, they all had their own definition of "vintage" which was interesting.

And of course, there was food..

Here are the couple of items I purchased that were irresistible.

This book was only $3, and I love the old fashion artwork and classic tales. Maybe I will read this to my kids someday!

I ended up choosing the cherry pie and oatmeal cookie to taste. Both were only a dollar or two. They were honestly some of the best baked goods I have ever eaten! With just the right amount of sweetness, it was a perfect balance. Check out Maisy's Pie Company!

The last things I bought were these vintage cards for only 25 cents each. One is a birthday card, a 'secret sister' card, and two are 'special friend' cards (aka secret admirers). I miss the elegant and old fashioned way of things. I couldn't stop smiling reading all of the cards, people were so polite back then!

I hope you enjoyed this week's post! Stay tuned for some fall themed posts!

My Workout Essentials

Over the summer I have really been into being healthy and feeling good. I had so much time in the summer because I was able to workout relatively often and do what I wanted. And now that school has started, I am just tired all. the. time! I really have to force myself to go running, play tennis, or do circuit training (and go to bed early!). But the good news is that the only hard part is taking the first step, because after that, I really enjoy it.

Here are some of my essentials that I absolutely love when exercising, and my before/after workout food!

run it run it
my polyvore!
- Music. These Sony headphones don't fall out while running, and the sound quality is great! I love listening to workout playlists I find on 8tracks.
-Sunscreen. This is so important when it is sunny outside to protect my skin. The Neutrogena Dry Touch sunscreen is never greasy and easy to mix into my daily moisturizer.
-Water. Pretty much a given necessity as I try to drink 7-8 cups a day! This Bobble water bottle filters the water inside so you can fill up water anywhere!
-Fresh Breath + Lip Balm. For years I have been eating a mint or chewing gum before because it makes me motivated and ready. And I never go wrong with the classic Burt's Bees! Who wants to run two miles with bad breath and chapped lips?
-Running Shoes. I seem to wear out shoes so quickly, but it is so important that they are comfortable! My favorite brand is Nike.
-Comfy T Shirt and Shorts. It doesn't matter to me really what brand they are, as long as the clothes aren't a heavy fabric. I usually wear a school shirt and these shorts from Walmart (I have 5 pairs..)
-My Favorite Socks. Socks are really the only thing I am picky on because all socks are different in length, fabric, or color! These ankle Adidas ones fit my feet the best!
-Sports Bra. My favorite types of sports bras are the ones that are padded so I can also wear them during tennis season! I don't really have a preference on the brand, but the Champion ones are nice from Target.
-Pre-Workout Snack. This varies often, but bananas and peanut butter on whole grain bread is so delicious and fills me up just enough. I try to eat this about an hour before. Other options are greek yogurt and granola, protein bars, fruit snacks, trail mix, etc.

-Post-Workout Dinner. This obviously changes from day to day, but I like to eat right when I get home because I am usually hungry. Today, I had broccoli salad, and a chicken cabbage slaw with a side of salmon. ( I had to two plates because it was so good!) For dessert I ate some honey nut cheerios because I was still a little hungry and I always go through phases with cereal. It also craves my sweet tooth!
On most days, I usually exercise at my local gym because I love to work out at night after my homework, but when I do go outside, I might wear yoga pants and a long sleeve shirt! I try to workout 3 times a week including tennis lessons, and I always feel so much better afterwards. I hope to show some of my favorite exercise routines soon: tennis, cardio, circuit training, etc.)

What are some of your essentials for working out? Have fun getting healthy!

Face Of the Day #1: Berry Lips and Winged Liner

I love this time of year when it is perfect to use darker colors for fall! I can't get enough of the chilly weather, sweaters, leggings, cider, donuts, colorful leaves, the lists goes on and on. On a normal day I definitely don't wear this much makeup because I have to wake up so early, but on the weekend I like to take my time if I'm going out with friends.

Now I probably own one too many brown eye shadows, but this is definitely one of my favorites from Inglot. It's pigmented, buttery, and reasonably priced for such great quality. I just swept the brown shadow all over the lid to keep things simple.

I really like the Clinique Black Honey "Lipstick": it's moisturizing, glossy, and stains the lips after a long time. The Revlon lip butter in Fig is very similar!

For the cheeks I used a glowy bronzer to give me color, and dabbed the Black Honey lipstick on my cheeks for a super natural flush to match the lips. My favorite part was doing the winged eyeliner, because using a felt tip pen eyeliner makes it so easy, and this Maybelline liner lasts all day! It may take practice to see what shape of wing goes with your eyes, but it is beautiful.

Inglot Eyeshadows in 395 (pearly white) + 422 (brown)//Maybelline Eyestudio Liner//Tweezerman Lashcurler//Maybelline Rocket Mascara Waterproof - Very Black//Wet N' Wild Ultimate Brow Kit - Ash Brown//Clinique Black Honey Lipstick//Cargo Medium Bronzer (shimmery)//Real Techniques Blush Brush

I will definitely be sporting this look a lot this fall! What's your favorite thing about this season?

Be the Best You!

So I know this post is just a little different from my typical food obsessed, makeup loving self, but I have been thinking about writing something like this for awhile now. All I could think about these past weeks is something that happened during class. I saw a girl who sat next to me compare herself to her best friends and look so defeated. No words were said. But I saw everything. It's crazy how much social media effects us and how we view ourselves, or how we "think" we're supposed to be: with the "in" crowd. Especially when girls are just growing up and don't even know who they are as a person yet, being affected negatively can really hurt and the damage can be long term. We've all been though this: comparing ourselves to others, being jealous, body bashing, and not loving ourselves.
A couple months ago I had some sort of epiphany. I just thought of how much emotions and feelings are wasted if you compare yourself to others. How much time is spent trying to be something you're not? The most empowering thing to do is be the best you. After that, everything else is out of your control. You know what's right and wrong, but don't ever let little mistakes stop you!

Now, is it just me, or is anyone else tired of hearing the cliche "everyone is unique"? I needed a new perspective. I needed enlightenment. I needed to be proud.  I needed to do things that I could change and were in my control.

Feel Good!

-Get more zzzz!
-Eat healthy and clean
-Exercise (something is better than nothing!)
-Distract yourself when feeling down (music, reading, blogging...)
-Be around positive people
-Have great role models
-Unfriend/Unfollow people who you don't need!
-Write in a journal about the things you are proud of.

As cheesy as all of this sounds, you will be surprised on how you view things differently. Care for others. Be happy. Make others happy. And most importantly...be you!

I really hoped this helped someone! Hopefully I will do more of these little advice blog posts because I seem to be getting so many ideas lately. I love you all so much!
